Star Protection started the Media Security program as a direct result of the unrest following the Oscar Grant shooting in 2009. Due to the elevated risk of violence against media crews, Star Protection took the unprecedented action of “imbedding” with the crews to provide safety. Since 2009, we have successfully protected thousands of news crews during some of the worst political unrest in a generation. Based on best practices, crews are assigned an armed, plain clothed, honorably retired California law enforcement or Federal law enforcement officer.

Star Protection enjoys excellent relationships with the local law enforcement agencies we operate in. As retired law enforcement, our guards have a superior working knowledge of the areas we work in.
